With a background in behavioral neuroscience and biology from Columbia University, Nikki’s passion lies in understanding the molecular intricacies of stress and its impact on the brain, particularly in the context of brain tumors. Currently engaged in groundbreaking DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) research at Mount Sinai Hospital, Nikki’s expertise extends beyond the laboratory. She has emerged as a prominent figure in patient advocacy and scientific communication, collaborating with esteemed organizations like Gift from a Child and Tough2Gether. Nikki’s mission is clear: to empower patient families with the knowledge they need to navigate the complexities of clinical trials and treatment decisions. Through initiatives like Brain Tumor 101, a comprehensive series of lectures elucidating the science behind pediatric brain tumors, Nikki aims to bridge the gap between research and the everyday realities faced by families.
